 Very nice simple clock radio July 28, 2010

It was time for a new clock radio and I was looking for one that I could connect my iPod to. I found this one and so far it's worked perfectly. I hardly use the radio function but the iPod feature works awesome. The sound could be a little better but I'm not really using it to play music. It's very simple to use and I like the fact that it has two different wake modes/times. The only part that was a little confusing to figure out was the iPod dock. This radio already has the dock installed for the iPod touch, but I have the iPod video classic. The iPod touch dock looks like it can't be removed from the radio but with a little force you can remove it and attach your own iPod's dock. Despite this slight confusion I'm completely happy with my purchase.

I bought one of these for my niece for Christmas. From the first time she used it, it was barely audible, and the clock screen would turn off when the iPod was docked. It seemed like unplugging it and plugging it back in would turn the display back on, but that's ridiculous. Also, the "shuffle" and "next song" buttons didn't work. Bought a second one (not from Amazon), and she opened the box to find the faceplate broken. We returned that as well and went with another brand.
On the other hand, I did buy the RCA dock for my other niece, and it had no problems. I think that having only 1 out of 3 working is pretty bad.

Within a week of using this product, it stopped charging my ipod when docked. I called and Audiovox replaced the unit with a refurbished one, which after a few weeks of use doesn't recognize what buttons you are pushing (i.e., push the "ipod" button to play music and it thinks you are attempting to set the clock). What a piece of junk.

I've been looking for a small, inexpensive clock radio to charge and play my iPod. This seemed to be what I needed. When it arrived, I attempted to dock my iPod and was unsuccessful. On the box it says the Apple products it is compatible with and the 5th generation iPod was not listed. The buttons feel cheap. I've attempted to return this item. After a couple of phone calls and emails, Universal Mania has proved to be extremely difficult to contact. I will be submitting a complaint to Amazon.
