ALarm Clock you can really see! July 29, 2010 Kenneth Sandberg (Shingletown, CA) I bought two of these units, and I am very happy with both. I set them up high in the back of our bedroom and in the living room. You can see them from 15 feet away easily at night, and they glow enough not to have eye strain figuring out the time. The only downside of sorts is you must plug them in (not battery powered at all), but they have a reasonably long cord, and they are small enough to put on a small shelf (maybe three inches wide). One minor problem is if the power goes off, they are not the easiest thing to reset (especially if you have them up high like I do) as you have no battery backup. Still, I think they are attractive, functional, and dependable.
It can double as a searchlight.... July 18, 2010 YSR to RCV (San Diego, CA United States) First, I keep my bedroom dark. Really dark. This clock is like a green searchlight that brightens the room on the "dim" setting. Perhaps I'm persnickity, but I have no use whatsoever for it. Now it resides in the garage.
No Regrets Here June 10, 2010 A Maze On Line We see this clock from about 18 ft away and still think digits are B-I-G. Very simple setup - No manual needed. After about a month, seems to keep its accuracy. The Green LED is more pleasing to the eye (IMHO) compared to the standard red. I have it under the wall TV on a black entertainment center. The black background makes the clock almost invisible - just the digits show.
Since most often no one listens to the radio in a clock radio, a clock sans radio makes sense especially since most radios in a clock radio are terrible.
If Chaney Instruments cared, my little wish list would be: Eliminate the reflection from the clear plastic front - its a distraction and looks cheap. Also, can the green LEDs be brighter. Sometimes it shows like a fluorescent tube that is losing its fluorescence. IMHO, these two improvements would make the clock classier.
Works great June 5, 2010 R. Fenichel (Virginia) The green numbers are very visible. On dim setting, the numbers are just the right brightness for a bedroom. I have just used it as a clock, since I am retired. I'm very happy with this product.
Great Display May 14, 2010 R. Anderson (Marquette, MI USA) This is an excellent clock with an easy to see display. We're using it in a large room where the large, bright display comes in very handy. But the display can be dimmed in smaller rooms. This has all the usual features of good alarm clock. Very easy to see.
