Product Description The Sony ICF-C318 is an AM/FM Automatic Time Set Clock Radio. The ICF-C318 has a 0.9" green LED display, which is easily viewable from across the room, but takes up very little space on your nightstand. It hosts a number of features including dual alarm, extendable snooze bar, built-in calendar and full power memory back up.

creepy! July 28, 2010 sonybalony on more than one occassion my alarm has went off without it even being plugged in... its probably just a manufactures defect but its still scary =/
Can't be beat for the price July 26, 2010 Earl G (New England) A clock with dual alarms that is compact, easy to set, and sounds okay, all for a reasonable price. Unlike some of the reviewers, I think the alarm is quite loud enough (I tend to sleep through thunderstorms) and the adjustable readout is not too bright on its lowest setting. My only criticism is that I wish that the shutoff button on top were easier to distinguish by feel alone, but for the price I am very satisfied.
Nearly Perfect Alarm Clock July 18, 2010 Donnie The B (USA) I can't imagine a better alarm clock. The dual alarm feature is useful even if only used by 1 person - weekends are different you know. The automatic time set feature is nice - but does preclude fooling yourself by setting the time forward for extra minutes. The alarm set function is the best I've experienced. You can toggle forward or back to the precise time desired without having to go around again. The buzzer alarm is ideal to me. A gentle wake-up is all many people will need - but it does get more forceful if the alarm is unanswered. If a person needs a strong wake-up they can use the wake to music setting and turn up the volume.
I can imagine a better radio. It would be nice to have a better speaker and tuner. But how many people will listen to this radio much? It is fully adequate for what it's designed for. It gives a decent mono sound in the FM mode. There's not much reason to pay more for an alarm clock.
marginal antenna for marginal reception, arrives with dead battery July 1, 2010 aardvark (Boston, MA USA) Two shortcomings. I ordered it because I read somewhere that it has an external antenna, so I thought I could hook up a simple dipole. Well, I guess what they meant was that, as with many radios, the power cord (which I guess is external) is the antenna on FM. Oh well, better than nothing for fiddling the reception.
The second issue is that, as I think others have noted, it arrives with a dead battery, which kind of obviates the backup feature. So if you're looking for that, get a fresh 2032 battery too. Not exactly the kind of customer-friendly service I would have expected from Sony and Amazon.
But bottom line, for the price, I'm glad to have it.
PRETTY BAD - but still beats some of the others! July 1, 2010 Mary and Charles (COLORADO) Well it only cost about $12 - and it's worth it I guess.
I've tried much more expensive alarm clocks that are even worse.
Display can be dimmed for night use - not really dim enough, but better than some. I think the engineers who design these things must never actually test them as, well, alarm clocks.
The self-setting time feature is worthless. Expect to set it yourself, as we did.
Buttons on top have very little tactile feel and it's difficult to tell one from another till you get the hang of it. We've had the clock a couple months and I still hit the wrong button sometimes.
Sound quality is even worse than many other clock radios I've had - but so what, it wakes us up.
Tuner discrimination is atrocious. Stations merge together in a staticky mess unless you get it dead on. After mucking with it we were able to set it to wake to NPR, so I guess we're happy.
Overall - It gets the job done. Don't expect too much.
