This plastic-framed wall clock measures 14 inches in diameter and looks most at home hanging in an office or business setting. However, this clock's claim to fame is its precision time-keeping and the fact that it never needs to be set. The clock has a built-in antenna system that receives signals from the WWVB radio transmitter in Fort Collins, Colorado, which is in turn is regulated by the atomic clock. Once you install the battery and choose one of four U.S. time zones, the clock automatically sets to the accurate time in hours, minutes, and seconds, and continues to adjust itself six times daily. This low-maintenance clock even automatically adjusts for daylight savings time, so you never need to remember to spring ahead or fall backward. We have found the clock to work perfectly, and it is inexpensive. We use it in our home gym, and we use the second hand to time exercises. Works great, and no need to worry about setting the time.
Second hand does not sweep July 20, 2010

I bought this because another review said it has a sweeping second hand. It doesn't! The second hand ticks, but it's very quiet (I threw away my last clock because it was too loud). Within about 10 minutes the clock picked up the NIST signal. I'm very happy with it so far!

We have gone to these atomic clocks at school to save money vs a contracted clock and bell company. These are more dependable.

I was really looking forward to my atomic clock. I purchased the clock because it will set its self and it has a sweep second hand. When I first got it, I popped in the batteries and hung it on the wall awaiting the time signal to set the clock. After about 30 hours it finally got the signal, set the time and I thought all was good. A couple of days latter, I noticed the second hand was stuck on 45 seconds but the minute and hour hands were correct. I replaced the batteries several times, it would run for a while and stop again. Since I originally got the thing for my home gym and needed the second hand, I moved the clock in the bedroom and put a conventional clock in the gym that had a working second hand. I didn't bother to return it since the $25 I paid for it wasn't worth the time to return it. Lesson learned, buy a cheap, NON atomic clock. This technology is not ready for prime time.
