Amazon.com Review When is a clock not just a clock? When it provides so much more than just the time: temperature, time accuracy within one second per year, and a weather forecast, for example. This handsome wall clock, with its dual LCD screens and black-accented cherry finish, is an example of household life being enhanced by science. The WS-8157U-CH can hang on the wall or stand freely, with a built-in, fold-out stand. Radio-controlled time (to the hour, minute, and second) and date are prominently displayed, along with indoor and outdoor temperatures measured in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The day of the week can be displayed in English, French, Spanish or German. Time can be displayed in 12- or 24-hour modes, and time zones from Greenwich Mean Time to -12 GMT can be selected, with three-letter identifications for US time zones. An alarm feature is useful as a timer, and, if the clock happens to hang or stand near a bed (or a couch that's used for napping), a snooze feature allows for gradual wake-up. The weather forecast, estimated to be 75% accurate, is based on change in air pressure over time. Three icons--a sun, a sun with clouds, or two rain clouds--indicate imminent changes in the weather. And there are two weather tendency arrows as well, indicating changes in air pressure. The clock comes with La Crosse transmitter TX37U-TI. Clock and transmitter each operate on two AA batteries. For options in wall mounting, three screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The WS-8157U-CH-IT measures 12-1/4 by 8 by 1-1/4 inches. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its clocks. Each clock comes with a thoroughly detailed instruction booklet. --Garland Withers

Failed after four months June 17, 2010 L. Chassaignac I received this item for a Christmas present and it worked well for about four months until it stopped displaying outside temperature. I followed all suggestions to correct the problem with no success. I contacted support and was sent a replacement sensor which also failed to correct the problem. I emailed support several more times and received no further response.
Not a reliable clock June 13, 2010 X. Ma I got it in August 2009 and threw it away last week. It was not efficient---very battery consuming. It stopped working properly last week. I ended up with a chaotic morning because the time it showed was one hour behind!!! Don't buy it.
Good purchase May 27, 2010 K.U. Overall I like this clock... the only thing I wish was different is that the indoor/outdoor temp and date were darker. It is not dark enough for me to see while I am sitting on my couch like my old clock was.
Disappointing May 21, 2010 D. Martin 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This unit is impossible to read at an angle. The LCD screen is old-school; you have to look at it almost dead-on to read it. It also has a hard time tuning in the atomic clock to reset itself each night. I was unable to mount the unit on the wall where I wanted it because it can't find the atomic clock signal each night. I had to mount it on a wall 90 degrees to the left of the wall I wanted to mount it on. All in all a real disappointment.
We returned ours May 12, 2010 Gloria Bernal (Southern CA USA) It would not accurately read the outside temperature... it was way off about 20 degrees in accuracy. Outside temp was one of the main reasons we wanted one. The design is very attractive and everything else worked well. Returning it was easy with Amazon, they even supplied the shipping label and fees.
