Amazon.com Review When is a clock not just a clock? When it provides so much more than just the time: temperature, phase of the moon, and accuracy within one second per year, for example. This handsome wall clock, with its dual LCD screens and black-accented brushed aluminum finish, is an example of household life being enhanced by science. The WS-8117U-AL can hang on the wall or stand freely, with a built-in, fold-out stand. Radio-controlled time (to the hour, minute, and second) and date are prominently displayed, along with indoor and outdoor temperatures measured in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. The day of the week can be displayed in English, French, Spanish or German. Time can be displayed in 12- or 24-hour modes, and time zones from Greenwich Mean Time to -12 GMT can be selected, with three-letter identifications for US time zones. An alarm feature is useful as a timer, and, if the clock happens to hang or stand near a bed (or a couch that's used for napping), a snooze feature allows for gradual wake-up. Moon phase shows in twelve increments, from new moon, through gibbous and crescent phases (waxing and waning), to quarter and finally full moon. The clock comes with La Crosse wireless transmitter TX37U-IT. Clock and transmitter each operate on two AA batteries. For options in wall mounting, three screws and screw anchors and a strong adhesive tape are included. The WS-8117U-AL measures 12-1/4 by 8 by 1-1/4 inches. La Crosse provides a one-year limited warranty on its clocks. Each clock comes with a thoroughly detailed instruction booklet. --Garland Withers

La Crosse wall clock September 3, 2010 GEF The first sample of this product did not connect to the satellite. The replacement clock works flawlessly.
atomic wall clock indoor outdoor temperature August 17, 2010 Andrew Sinclair (California USA) Atomic clock works as advertised and keeps the exact time. I would have liked to see seconds displayed as well as hours and minutes. The lunar display display takes a little getting used to. It is not intuative. A full moon is displayed all black. You have to get used to the idea that black represents the light part of the moon.
The main drawback is that the temperature display is not accurate. If you place the outdoor sensor next to the clock the readings should be the same but can be anything from one to four degrees off. When checked againsed a calibrated thermometer the error was 3 degrees. All in all I am happy with the product for the price. The temperature read out is accurate enough for my purposes.
Going on my third one! August 16, 2010 Jerry W. ODELL (Ypsilanti, MI United States) I've had 2 of these clocks, and they work very well. But eventually, the
outdoor sensor goes dead, and then there isn't much to do other than
buy a new one. It's not Lacrosse's fault. I have the sensor mounted
outside in one of those plastic "guaranteed not to leak" containers, and
or course it leaks. Generally, the sensor works for about a year, and
gets tired of the 99% humidity.
But you've gotta expect that. They make good stuff in Wisconsin.

Rely on it every day! August 5, 2010 A. Hudson (GSO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned this clock for over a year. I have owned other La Crosse clocks, that is why I felt confident in buying this one. I have it placed above my TV and love being able to look up and see the big time display. I also love the fact it keeps the indoor and outdoor temperature. I have had to replace the batteries in the indoor clock once in a year and the outside weather sensor I have had to replace a few times. I would give it five stars if the outside sensor was not so finicky. Sometimes on really hot days the unit will not read correctly which I have come to expect. However, sometimes the clock clears out the temperature inside and you then have to reset the whole unit. That means pulling the outside sensor in, removing the batteries, removing the batteries to the clock, and resetting it all. It is time consuming. For how well it works I am willing to do this, however, it is a pain. I try to make sure my outdoor sensor is hidden away from direct sunlight and obviously from rain. I kept it up against the siding behind a trash can on my deck. Easy to retrieve but still will read wrong temperatures on very hot days. All and all I am very happy with this unit and am glad to own it.
Works perfect! August 4, 2010 J. Dunn (Seattle, WA USA) It works just like it is suppose to. Just the right size and very light.
